The Government of the Republic of Uganda has received a Credit from the International Development Association of the World Bank towards the cost of the Electricity Sector Development Project (ESDP) and Energy for Rural Transformation Phase III (ERTIII).

The ESDP has three Components and these are: A Construction of a 220kV Kawanda-Masaka Transmission Line, B – Technical Assistance to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), and C – Community Support Projects and Technical Assistance to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) whereas ERT-III has three components:

(1) On grid access including grid extensions and associated, grid intensification and associated connections, Household connections from existing lines and implementation support for on grid access,

(2) Off grid access including provision of Institutional Solar PV Systems, Business Development Support for Rural Access, Financial Intermediation for Rural Access and Quality Assurance for Solar Market Development

(3) Institutional Strengthening and Impacts Monitoring. The implementation of these projects will include surveying, land acquisition, procurement, engineering, construction and monitoring and enforcement of Ugandan and World Bank safeguard policies for the various components.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) therefore invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated Ugandans to fill the positions of Social safeguard Specialists.
