The Government of Uganda, has received fi nancing from the African Development Bank towards the cost of the Farm Income Enhancement and Forest Conservation Programme -Project-2 (FIEFOC-2), and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for Provision of consultancy services to conduct Capacity Building and Training Activities in Post-Harvest Handling, Management and Value Addition/Food Processing Technologies and Practices, Phytosanitary Measures, Product Standardisation and Food Safety of the Target Agricultural Enterprises’ Products in Water Shed Areas of Wadelai, Tochi, Mubuku II, Ngenge and Doho II Irrigation Schemes.

The overall objective of the assignment is to build the capacity of individual farmers in their respective farmer groups, individual agro entrepreneurs and other stake holders in Post harvest handling and management, value addition technologies and practices, phytosanitary measures, product standardization and food safety of products from target agricultural enterprises (apiculture, aquaculture, horticulture and other identified potential value chain commodities).

The specific objective for the services to be provided under this consultancy will include: a) Evaluation, identification and selection of farmer groups and other actors to partner with the Project, b) Training of farmers’/farmer groups in post-harvest handling & management technologies and practices for apiculture, aquaculture, rice and Horticultural products, c) Training of farmers and agro-entrepreneurs in food processing technologies and phytosanitary measures for apiculture, aquaculture, rice and Horticultural products and, d) Training of value chain actors on product standards and food safety for apiculture, aquaculture, rice and Horticultural products.
