The Government of Uganda has received a loan from the African Development Fund (ADF) towards the cost of the Road Sector Support Project 4 (RSSP4), and intends to apply part of the agreed amount of this loan to payments under the contract for consultancy services for Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design for Upgrading of Lira-Abim Road (125Km).

The Lira-Abim Road (125Km) is an existing gravel road located in the Northern part of Uganda. It traverses through the Districts of Lira, Alebtong, Otuke and and finally Abim. The road once upgraded will also serve to facilitate trade and commerce within the region. This road also opens a major gateway to the tourism areas of Karamoja and Kidepo National park thereby increasing tourism activities within the region. The road terrain is generally mountainous to rolling with gentle slopes.

The main objective of the assignment is to Investigate and determine the technical and economic feasibility, and the environmental and social impacts of upgrading the existing gravel road to paved standard and preparing detailed engineering designs based on the results of the feasibility studies. The services consist of feasibility study, preliminary and detailed engineering design, and preparation of bidding documents for works in accordance with the highest professional standards. The consultancy services shall be executed in two phases as follows
