Under the overall guidance of the WHO Representative, day to day supervision and guidance of the NPO/HIV AIDS and Disease Prevention and Control Cluster Leader, the Consultant/NTD will support the Karamoja districts, Ministry of Health, and WHO Uganda Country Office to implement disease prevention and control interventions with special attention to HIV/AIDS prevention and control, Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) and other Neglected Tropical Diseases, and outbreak/emergency investigation and response. Specifically, the SSA/Karamoja will perform the following, working in close collaboration with technical staff at district, Ministry of Health, and WHO Country Office:

1. Support execution of the WHO-supported activities in the JUPSA/ KARUNA project in Karamoja region

 2. Participate in and provide technical guidance in partner coordination meetings for the JUPSA/KARUNA project

3. Support integrated disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, preparedness and response, including Visceral Leishmaniasis reporting in Karamoja region, particularly from Amudat VL Treatment Centre
